It's Been Way Too Long...
Three and a half years, since the last blog. Whew! I guess COVID and no concerts and a lack of a life will do that to you...

My First Blog of 2015...On December 28?!
I noticed a few months ago, that I've horribly neglected this blog during 2015 and hadn't made a single post. Going by my past, this odd numbered year, should have seen and uptick from last year...
But there have been several factors. Like last year, when I only went to one concert, this year I didn't go to any. I should have seen the Who, but they postponed their St. Louis show twice, from May to December to now in March 2016 (If they don't cancel again). And I balked at going to see the Stones at Arrowhead. In hindsight, I wish I would have, I took that weekend off, but the astronomical ticket prices, plus parking and a long drive to K.C. made me hesitate.
The other key factor that started taking up a lot of my time, was I finally decided to return to college in June. I started doing online classes going for my Bachelor's in Business Management. While I've had free time, after spending copious amounts of time behind a computer typing, spending more time didn't seem as fun of a way to spend leisure time. If I did any online stuff, it was helping do work on Herocopia, the Astro City wiki. Which I've still slacked off there too...
Not to mention just being on Facebook, a) lets me vent issues of the day and b) tires me out of talking about issues. And there's that whole professionalism thing and wanting to grow up...Maybe...
And I didn't even do my follow up thoughts to the Missouri Tigers Basketball season, because they were horrible in 2014-15. And they're not looking too good this year as well. I'm hoping the recent game against Illinois, even though a loss, can be a springboard to a more competitive team....
I've already have one concert lined up, and Springsteen is always tempting. Though my classload will start getting worse; upper level classes that will require more writing and research. Something I haven't had to really do in over ten years. So, hopefully 2016 will be a better year for me in general and give me something to post or at least rant about...

It's September and I've Only Made Two Blog Posts This Year...
I couldn't help but notice that through this whole year, I've only made two blog posts. It's really weird because until a month ago I've had the time with my work schedule. I was getting five days off in a row and many a nights of not being able to sleep. So, I guess it boils down to I've got nothing to say or don't care about anything...
One of the big reasons I presume, is that I haven't went to a single concert this year and don't have any on the horizon.. I didn't go to Jamey Johnson at the Blue Note this Spring and there really hasn't been that many acts coming around that I really want to go see.
Both of the posts I've made this year have been about Missouri Tiger Basketball. And with the World Championships of basketball happening right now, it got me to rethinking what a college roster would look like. And the Cardinals lack of offensive gives me plenty of fodder.
Also I've still got a few Astro City related thoughts I'd like to get out one of these days, if I can get off my lazy slide. Looking at my past history though, it appears I don't post as much in even numbered years as in odd numbered years for whatever reason.
I still prefer in depth writing rather than the instant social media made for phones, which only catch a moment's thought.

Losing that Christmastime Sense of Wonder
Like for probably everyone else, Christmas when you get older, is never the same as when you were little. You get older, you just get what you want, whenever you want it. But I woke up today, on Christmas, with just the sense, that it's all another day. Only getting four hours of sleep, doesn't help either. But after watching ''A Christmas Story,'' in the end sequences Christmas Eve, where they wake up to the white Christmas and Ralphie, gets the Red Ryder B.B. gun he wanted, it got me to thinking about how Christmas has lost most traces of that magical wonder.
I mean apart from the presents and gifts, just getting together for the family get-togethers doesn't even seem as fun. Again the four hours of sleep and not on my regular sequence played a part today. But I remember the greatest part of Christmas or any holiday, was getting to see my cousins and going outside and playing football. And a lot of times it was hit or miss, if they'd make it as they lived so far away or they had to work, so that made the time and discussions even more special. There was just that sense, especially during Christmas and Thanksgiving, that these were special times.
Maybe it is just the getting older. Or maybe I just need kids... Or maybe, it's the fact that with all family members and friends I have, we don't do gifts, only for the little kids. So, I miss out on the shopping and lose the sense of a countdown. I hate the cold weather, but there's something I like about being out on a cold clear December night, like when I went to the movie the other night. There was some of that feeling of Christmastime starting to show, but for the most part that feeling just eludes me this time of year. Maybe "A Christmas Story" had it right all along...

Fuck You MySpace!
Well, I guess time has fucked them over pretty good anyway. But out of a whim, I was going to go look at my old page, or more specifically my blog over there. But a quick search and from following my link, that I posted here four years ago, it appears my blog has been deleted.
The kick is I still have a profile, but no clue on the password. I sent for the resend button, but nothing has popped up in my inbox. So, real geniuses there, I have a profile but can't access it. It's no wonder whatever MySpace has sunk into, it rightly deserves it and needs a death. The only reason I marginally liked it better than Facebook(which I was actually on before MySpace) was that it had a blog. But eventually the stylings of it I didn't like and eventually made my way here.
I guess it's my fault for not copying my posts or transferring copies here, like I was going to do. It held a bunch of concert reviews and a few other thoughts. In a sense, it houses my memories of experiences and what I was going through at that point in my life from 2007 to early 2009. I remember the combing through various set lists of other shows to figure out concert set lists that I went to, just so I'd have an idea of what was played.
It's a pretty low blow move. Fuck you you ancient dinosaur.

Never Hot for Teacher
We got one of the local papers today and they featured an article on the new teachers at school, with them all pictured together and write ups on them. Most of the the new female teachers were both younger and attractive and led me to comment to my brother, "How is it I never any good looking teachers in Elementary school?"
Seriously, most of the ones I had were in or close to their forties. I think I had two younger ones and one of them probably would have been more attractive with a better high style.
And thinking harder about it, even after going to Junior High and High School, there was only one teacher that I had for classes that was attractive. I believe there were a few in my junior high days and then in junior and senior years, but I never had them as teachers.
What it all boils down to, was I got depraved of the young American male experience of having a hot teacher to gaze upon.

I Despise the Saying, "It Is What It Is."
I despise the saying, "It is what it is." Bad. I don't know why, but when people use it, it drives me up a wall.
Maybe I just disagree with the philosophy or the logic behind it. It's makes it seem like someone or something is resigned to fate. I'll stand by, "It's never what it is." And if something isn't how you like it, you go out and fix it.
So, if you're around me, please don't use it. It might make me want to strangle you.

I Need to Get a Woman...
...After buying my brother's ticket for the Jamey Johnson concert last night, see review below. He bought six bottles and a pitcher of beer and said he couldn't remember much from the later part of the concert. Glad I wasted my money, so he could waste a bunch of his...
Or I just need to stop taking him places where he can afford alcohol...

I'll Never Date a Woman Who Pays $10 For Beer
As I talked about at the Bob Seger concert in the post below, people were buying multiple glasses of beer at $10 bucks a pop. And I just thought this to myself later, "there's no way I could date a girl who would pay that." I don't care if she drinks or not, it's just the principle behind it. How could I be with someone who could justify spending that? Maybe it's just a psychosis of my thought process or more likely my conservative nature, but it doesn't matter, we wouldn't be compatible.
The only loophole in this is if she is loaded financially.

Don't Know Why...
How did I get stuck again being around and having to listen to "educated" idiots and morons? Either this fall weather when constantly changing, does something to my body to make me fatigued and inhospitable, or I think it's time for a change of some kind...

Songs To Be Played When I Die...
I did this when I started my MySpace blog and figured it was time for an update/repost of my favorite song or relevant songs.
I'd still rather have some kind of gathering concert, rent out the old Perry Gym or some other hall, than an actual funeral, like the Concert for George, though I don't know how many of friends are musically talented. Just make it a big old party and a good time. And it'd still be better than an actual funeral, especially when it costs $20-30,000 to die. Fucking unbelievable. Put me on a stick in the front yard and let the vultures claw me up. Or better yet, go the Gram Parsons route and somebody steal the body and set it on fire.
But here's the songs I'd like played/performed. Mostly favorites and favorite artists, but some darker relevant ones tossed in. I always think of the funeral scene in The Big Chill, where they preform the departed's favorite hymn, You Can't Always Get What You Want.
The last two would have to be Knockin' on Heaven's Door and The Weight.
Positively 4th Street, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Like A Rolling Stone, Knockin' On Heaven's Door- Bob Dylan
The Weight, I Shall Be Released- The Band
Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?- Waylon Jennings
Poor, Poor Pitiful Me- Warren Zevon
House of Gold- Hank Williams
Lola- The Kinks
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For- U2
I'm One, Long Live Rock, Substitute - The Who
Don't Cry No Tears, Harvest- Neil Young
Against the Wind- Bob Seger
Wide River to Cross- Buddy Miller
And something for sure by Jamey Johnson and Shooter Jennings. And I'll probably be adding to this list ad nauseum...

Is It the Clothes That Get the Title?...
I guess history was made when a cross dressing high school student got voted Prom Queen, after being voted for by his(her?) classmates. But is this saying King and Queen need to be based on clothes and gender roles? So would a female not wearing a dress, not be eligible, or say could a heterosexual male in a suit run for Queen title just because he wanted to?
And I thought high school politics were silly before. Then again, it's no wonder I skipped going to both my proms all together...

This streak is over...
March 23, 2007- December 10, 2010 Not as long as my other previous streak, but a long time nonetheless. Still tired and sore and wondering if it was flu, bad food, or a bad mix of medicines. And wondering if other people go these long periods without puking?

A Dream and Proverbs
A week or two ago during one of my dreams, I had someone telling me to pay attention or something about a verse from Proverbs. I couldn't remember if it was Proverbs 8:5 or Proverbs 5:8. A lot of my dreams are partially surreal. Things are never exactly like they are in real life, there is always some details which are different. And I tend to jump from one setting to another out of nowhere.
But I did end up remembering that dream the other day. I think the person telling me, was a guy I work with, who hadn't started on my line yet. But I went and looked up the verses, first 8:5, "You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding." I like to think I've got a pretty good handle on that...
For 5:8, "Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house," which after reading the heading at the start is about adultery. And the metaphor is pretty clear. And I think I have an even better handle on this one....or at least I hope so....
